The market chaos unleashed by Donald Trump’s trade war continued for a third day as stocks, bonds and commodities all swung wildly, buffeted by both fears of a recession and speculation the financial damage will drive the Republican president to change course.

In keeping with the turmoil in global markets following President Donald Trump's tariff decisions, the US markets also witnessed a bloodbath as they opened on Monday morning. Trump's reciprocal tariffs have led to a broad-based fall in financial markets globally with markets plunging in Asia as well as Europe.

As markets continue to plummet in response to incoming tariffs, the S&P Global 500 has started to fall into what appeared to be bear market territory.

The 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 379.93 points or 0.51 per cent to settle at 73,847.15. During the day, it slumped 554.02 points or 0.74 per cent to a low of 73,673.06.
