Prada bought Versace for $1.4 billion less than a month after Donatella Versace stepped down from the latter brand as a creative director.

Prada will officially buy Versace. On April 10, Prada Group announced plans to purchase the Italian fashion house for $1.375 billion from Capri Holdings, adding the Gianni Versace-founded line to its group of luxury brands.

Prada's $1.3 billion acquisition of Versace strengthens Italy's hand in the luxury industry led by French conglomerates.
