Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) is a high-speed, broadband transmission capability technology. It transports various types of user traffic, including telephony (voice), data, and video signals.
ATM cells are fixed-size packets of 53 bytes with 5 bytes of header and 48 bytes of payload. Routing information is stored in Virtual Circuit Identifier (VCI) part of the ATM cell header.
