Spartanburg County officials have declared a State of Emergency on Friday. County officials said the entire county has unmet needs, however, emergency services must address life safety issues first. Officials are asking everyone to not call 911 for non-critical incidents.

In a post on X, Beshear said Breathitt, Clark, Lee, and Letcher counties and the city of Winchester have verbally declared the emergency.

Giles County has announced that it also has entered a state of emergency because of the impacts of Hurricane Helene. Citizens are asked to prepare for flooding and other severe weather and are encouraged to voluntarily evacuate in flood prone areas.
