SEATTLE (AP) — A major storm swept across the northwest U.S., battering the region with strong winds and rain, causing widespread power outages and downing trees that killed at least one person.

High winds downed power lines and killed one person in Lynnwood, Snohomish County, with more extreme weather expected throughout the week in the Northwest.

A bomb cyclone and an atmospheric river will continue lashing the Pacific Northwest with severe weather conditions, the National Weather Service said.
