A coach from the Los Angeles Rams believes the San Francisco 49ers' 1-2 start is owed more to their defense than the performance of quarterback Brock

Brock Purdy played well against the Rams this past Sunday. But he missed a throw that could have won the game. And when I say he missed it, I mean he didn't throw the ball. Saw the receiver wide open downfield and simply didn't pull the trigger.

The 49ers score 5.3 more points per game (24.3) than the Patriots allow (19). San Francisco averages 407.3 yards per game, 80 more yards than the 327.3 yards that New England gives up per outing. This year, the 49ers have turned the ball over three times, one more than the Patriots' takeaways (2).

The 49ers would have to suffer another half-dozen significant injuries for the Patriots to have a fighting chance.
