A once-stout Real Salt Lake defense has conceded 11 goals in its last four matches and settled for back-to-back draws after getting out to a pair of 2-0 leads.

RSL’s Matt Crooks opened the scoring in the 48th minute. Braian Ojeda made a long pass to the right side of the field to Chicho Arango, who fired a shot that Austin goalkeeper Brad Stuver deflected with his right foot. The rebound went right to Crooks, who drilled the ball into the net for a 1-0 lead.

Though Austin FC (9-13-9, 36 points, 11th West) hasn't been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, in any realm of reality it is has been. It would have to make up a goal differential of 20 on the Portland Timbers while also winning all three remaining games as the Timbers lost all of their last three.
