Angel City owner Willow Bay has made her first major personnel move, hiring NWSL veteran Mark Parsons to be the club's new sporting director.

There is the immediate pressing matter of naming Angel City’s next head coach, after the club parted ways with Becki Tweed in December. Eleri Earnshaw was named interim head coach as part of that announcement, and Parsons said he expects to wrap up the technical staff by the end of the week — and not put a timeline on hiring a new head coach.

Mark Parsons, who won the NWSL championship with the Portland Thorns, is the new Sporting Director at Angel City FC.

McCarthy, who coached 13 seasons with the Packers and five with the Cowboys, is expected to interview with the Bears on Wednesday.

When discussing the recent coaching shakeup on his “The Edge with Micah Parsons” podcast, the star linebacker expressed it’s “very sad” to see McCarthy, 61, leave due to the relationships cultivated over the past few years while previewing what’s expected to be an “interesting” offseason in Dallas.

Parsons is expecting dramatic changes in Dallas but believes Cowboys ownership will make the right decision with their next head coach.
