The westbound side of the Mass Pike was closed at the Route 495 interchange in Hopkinton after a large crack was seen in the highway. Drivers should expect traffic delays as crews make emergency repairs to the road, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation said.

During a press conference earlier this afternoon, MassDOT Highway Supervisor Jonathan Gulliver said officials hoped to have one lane on the Pike's westbound side open by about 2 p.m.; however, that side of the road remained closed as of 2:45 p.m.

At least one lane on Mass Pike was set to open at 2 p.m. Friday, with the rest of the lanes planned to open around 8 p.m.
