SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Sonny Smart, the dad of UGA head coach Kirby Smart, passed away early Saturday morning at the age of 76. While in New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl, Smart was walking during the day on New Year’s Eve and fell. At 12:15 a.m. on January 4, he succumbed to complications from the hip surgery he underwent following the fall.
