The Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association announced an indefinite, state-wide strike to protest the attack.

Dr. Balaji Jagannath, 38, was on duty when Vignesh, 26, of Perungalathur, along with three friends, entered the hospital at around 10.30 am to visit his mother, who is receiving cancer treatment.
