On September Australia, Canada, Germany, and the Kingdom of the Netherlands announced that they had formally taken steps to call on Afghanistan

The case is being brought under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, which was adopted by the UN in 1979 and enforced in 1981.

Australia and three further countries are taking Taliban-controlled Afghanistan to the International Court of Justice for gender discrimination, over its oppressive laws against women. The country, alongside Canada,
