In the coming weeks, the Internal Revenue Service is set to send approximately 1 million taxpayers $1,400 stimulus checks, according to officials.

While most eligible tax payers did claim and receive the credit, a review of internal data revealed that “one million taxpayers overlooked claiming this complex credit when they were actually eligible,” said IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel. The credit was available to those who missed out on one or more Economic Impact Payments, i.e. stimulus checks.

Approximately 1 million taxpayers will automatically receive special stimulus payments of up to $1,400 from the IRS via direct deposit or check by late January 2025.
