MEXICO CITY (AP) — Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark has been crowned Miss Universe. Kjaer, an animal protection advocate who works in the diamond selling business, beat out Miss Nigeria at the end of 73rd edition of the competition in Mexico City. Miss Mexico placed third. It is the first time a Danish contestant has won Miss Universe.

Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark has been crowned Miss Universe 2024, becoming the first Dane to ever win the competition. The 21-year-old, a competitive dancer, entrepreneur, and aspiring lawyer, beat more than 120 other contestants to win the annual beauty pageant in Mexico City on Saturday night.

Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, has been crowned the 2024 Miss Universe, in a glamorous event held in Mexico on November 16. She triumphed over 124 contestants from around the globe to win the title at the 73rd edition of the pageant. Theilvig succeeds Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua, the 2023 Miss Universe.

For the finale, Theilvig opted for a bright pink gown with intricate sequin embellishments, a strapless silhouette with beaded off-the-shoulder straps, a plunging neckline, and bodycon fitting that accentuated her svelte frame.

More than 120 women from countries across the world partook Saturday night in the 2024 Miss Universe pageant in Mexico City. But just one won the whole shebang: 21-year-old Victoria Theilvig of Denmark.
