Three people have been charged with second-degree murder after a 5-year-old boy was killed when a hyperbaric chamber exploded at a medical facility in Michigan earlier this year, officials announced Tuesday.

Michigan Attorney Dana Nessel said key facility staff "held safety among their lowest considerations in their hyperbaric treatment practice."

Dana Nessel will be announcing the arraignment for Tammi Peterson for second-degree murder and manslaughter charges. She is the center's founder and CEO, which owned and operated the chamber.

His mother was standing next to the hyperbaric chamber and suffered injuries to her arms when it exploded Jan. 31 at the Oxford Center in Troy.
