The Indianapolis Colts made another addition after the start of the new league year, signing Khalil Herbert on a one-year deal. The former Chicago Bears and Cincinnati Bengals running back brings experience to the backfield with 59 games under his belt, which he has started in 13 of them.

According to multiple reports, Khalil Herbert has agreed to sign a one-year deal with Indianapolis. Herbert, 26, had spent his career with the Bears until they traded him to the Bengals midway through last season.

The Colts began addressing smaller needs in free agency after the splash signings of the first two days of free agency, and one of those needs was a better backup option behind Jonathan Taylor.

As fans likely remember, Herbert was one of the all-time rare in-season trades for the Bengals last season. They traded for him in early November in exchange for a seventh-round pick. Still just 26, there was an outside chance the Bengals decided to bring Herbert back as depth.

The Cincinnati Bengals won’t be keeping Khalil Herbert, who is reportedly signing with the Indianapolis Colts, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This marks the end of what was a rather disappointing tenure for Herbert in the Queen City.
