Police have released the identity of the woman whose remains were found in a burning car on Monday on Cape Cod.

Cape & Islands District Attorney Robert J. Galibois said the driver was Sandwich resident Susan Lauber, who was 86 years old.

A Sandwich woman was identified as the owner and driver who died on Monday after the car was engulfed in flames.

The car left the road near Peters Pond in Sandwich, drove into a wooded area and pitched onto its side, officials said.
