It was an interesting trip out to Tam Coc. Spent the day peeking into river life amid the weathered karsts. We left the area in the afternoon; though, I would imagine sunsets against the jagged peaks…Full review by Gareth C

Hi, I'm loooking at getting a flight to Hanoi, then I would like to travel to Halong Bay, then on to Tam Coc before returning to Hanoi. Could anyone give me any information about traveling times in between each area, what is the best form of travel, and how long would I need to stay at each area Many thanks

I'm looking to visit in July 2019. Where does the boat tour down the river start from? All blogs and website point to a place a little South West of Ninh Binh centre but this looks like a lake (shaped like the letter "M"). The blogs and travel guides mention the Ngo Dong River but on a map I can't find this, nor does it look like any river connects to the lake. Is the lake boat tour separate? Many thanks

If you are referring to Ngo Dong River, then I believe you are looking for Tam Coc, information you can find from many reviews. I think there is another boat ride available in another place called Trang An. Whilst both Trang An and Tam Coc are part of the "Trang An Landscape Complex", they are two different locations offering great boat rides. Comparisons between the two can also be found from reviews, to help you decide which one you would prefer.
Why is it the headline review we see on the Tam Coc boat tour is a five star review from 2017, when the boat tour is being panned all over the place, as an uncomfortable couple of hours of being pestered by sellers and people looking for tips. Why don't you post something more recent, and more accurate?

I am surprised to read your statement. I saw no one being pestered st all whilst on my trip consisting of two hours, nor was I myself affected in any way. Two other people from the same place at which we were staying also enjoyed the trip and we spoke about it over a meal together in the evening. It was one of the highlights during our tour of Vietnam.
