I think it can be done, may be keep your baby inside with one parent. It has huge windows and almost as good as viewing from the deck. If you are staying around Milford sound, you will have more flexibility and don't go out if weather is bad - low visibility. It's getting cold at the end of April.

There was a bigger overnight boat we had hoped to travel on but it was fully booked... not saying it could not do the same things, but on our vessel we were able to move easily from one side to other to view wildlife ...
