This grand city gate was built in 1732 and is well preserved. Note the intricate mosaic tilework. The marble columns are thought to have come from Volublis according to the guide.Full review by KatielouAustralia

The gate is under renovation, so I could rate zero. That's unfair. If you are visiting Meknes for the gate wait until the area renovations are complete. It's still a fascinating old city!Full review by G1407MMphilb

Bab Mansour is one of the most amazing gates in the world, it was built at the beginning of the 18th century, and completed in 1732 by Moulay Abdallah, son of Sultan Moulay Ismail to be the grand entrance to the Imperial City of Meknes. A throng of merchants, acrobats and fire-eaters congregate, at dusk, in Place El-Hedime and its big market (overlooking the huge square-El Hedime). An easy-going and unforgettable medieval atmosphere. It is located in the southeast side of the Place El Hedim, that would impress every visitor with the splendor and glamour of the Sultan Moulay’s rule. The height of Bab Mansour door is about 16m and the marble columns of Bab Mansour were brought from the Roman ruins of Volubilis. Hope this helps!
