Can we arrive pre-dusk and explore and then attend the opera? Would you say this rates in interest as the Colosseum? We may skip that due to crowds and the unavailability of skip the line tickets unless we pay a lot from a third party. Going in a week and a half for reference!

Hi there, I'm not sure if this is helpful to you, but we booked a guided english tour at a specific time through the official Colosseum site (coop culture) and this meant that we did not have to line up (except for the 5 minutes or so it took to collect on pre-booked tickets). If you have a guided tour booked, don't be put off my the huge line ups you see at the site. Just go pick up your tickets, ask where you are supposed to enter the colosseum for your guided tour (it's on the other side of the site from the huge line ups), and you simply go in at your pre-booked time to meet your tour guide.
