Hať is located about 23 kilometres east of Opava and 12 km north of Ostrava, on the border with Poland. It lies mostly in the Opava Hilly Land, only the eastern part of the municipal territory extends into the Ostrava Basin. The highest point is at 279 m above sea level. The Bečva Stream flows through the municipality.
