This may be a silly question but we live in Iowa and don’t get to the ocean much. I’ve been reading the reviews about snorkeling and having to swim way out, which makes me nervous. We are going in September 2020 and I was just wondering about sharks in the area? Thanks.

It's not way out into the ocean and most parts aren't even deep, it's just a good ways from the beach, much of which an adult can walk/stand. Just lots of swimming for a little one but all must wear life preserver.
How are the mosquitoes there? Worried about Zika virus and pregnancy.

We did not see any, had no problems. Tip: we thought it would be neat to mail ourselves postcards from cute little post office on the island, this was mid October and we never received them.
