The location and surrounding area is spectacular and unique. However, the hotel lets itself down by really quite poor food by South African standards, especially as it is premium priced. It's also …Full review by emorse182231

We slept in both the honeymoon cave and standard cave. Both were excellent. We upgraded to the Star Suite - this was the most amazing experience sleeping in the open airFull review by Francois M

Kagga Kamma is an absolute treat for travellers seeking a unique and inspiring experience. On your visit you will see a part of Africa that is unlike any other. The Cederberg Mountain’s otherworldly rock formations, a crisp sky stretching endlessly overhead and beautiful rock art from an ancient culture, is the backdrop to a wonderful adventure. Kagga Kamma’s accommodation options are as unique as the landscape it is set in. The Bushman Lodge offers spacious en-suite thatched rondavels/huts. The famous 'cave suites' built against the sandstone rock formations will take you back to a prehistoric time without taking away any modern-day luxuries. Kagga Kamma also offers a one of a kind Outcrop open-air “room” where guests can sleep under the stars in sheer luxury - definitely a not-to-be-missed experience.Speaking of the stars...Take a tour into the milky way when you visit our mini-observatory. It promises to be an inspirational experience when you view the Karoo night skies through our 10-inch telescope.

The two ladies are correct. No Big Five there. Jillian name most of the bigger game, however there are smaller antelope and our versions of "ground-hogs and squirrels", lizards, birds and others. However, we did not even go on the game drives, such an absolutely an amazing place it is to visit! As an indigenous Khoi-San lady at the resort wisely put it... "At Kagga Kamma you do soul searching, bond with your family / friends and spend quality quiet time!"

As far as my knowledge goes, I am not aware of any area where fishing is available close to the resort. On your way to Kagga Kamma from Cape Town, there is a Trout Farm at the Du Toitskloof Resort just after you have passed through the tunnel where you can rent a rod and tackle to catch your own fish. I would advise to enquire directly from the Hotel if and when fishing is available. Happy fishing!

Being part of the "Koue Bokkeveld", visitors should expect extreme weather throughout the year. Hot to very hot during the day, cooling rapidly overnight to cold and even frost in the morning. Personally I find the early part of the year (Jan-April) to be more lenient with day temperatures and conducing pool-time. Do take sufficient suitable and comfortable clothing for protection against the sun and also for possible cold.
