5 of us will be in Vancouver in late June. Due to expense of all inclusive tours (bus, ferry, admission) we are considering bus from hotel to ferry in Vancouver, ferry to nearest Butchart Gardens (is that Victoria??), bus to Butchart Gardens, pay our admission, then bus back to ferry, ferry back to Vancouver. Is that reasonable? If so, what site do we go to for the ferry? Is there a certain number or name of the ferry from Vancouver to nearest Gardens? What is arrival port for ferry that's closest to Gardens that leaves from Vancouver? What bus to take from that location to Gardens? Is it just a reverse of getting there to get back to Vancouver? Answers to these specific questions would be most helpful in our planning. Thank you so much in advance!

I would recommend from Vancouver taking the skytrain to River Rock casino and jumping on a BC transit bus that will take you to the Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal. Here's an example: 8:00 AM from Bridgeport Stn Bay12 620 bus # towards Tsawwassen Ferry Express. Walk on the ferry and disembark in Swartz Bay, Victoria. After disembarking there's a bus from the ferry terminal to Butchard Gardens. The Gardens are about 14.5km (9 miles) from Swartz Bay and there are several transportation options available to you. Transit Bus: Purchase a $5 DayPASS from the driver or $2.50 per ride (will accept CAD and US bills and coins, but no exchange rate or change given). This trip generally takes 55 minutes. There are two BC Transit options available to get to The Gardens from Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal. Bus #81 connects with the ferries that depart from the Tsawwassen ferry terminal on the odd hour sailings only. When you disembark the ferry at Swartz Bay, the bus stop is just outside the foot passenger terminal and the #81 bus will bring you right into The Gardens. Another option is the #72 bus connecting with the ferries that departs from the Swartz Bay ferry terminal to the Saanichton Exchange and then transfer to bus #75 to get to The Gardens. When you take two buses, the cost is $5.00 for a day pass that can be purchased from the driver. If you have further specific schedule, route or fare questions, BC Transit will be able to assist: BC Transit 250-382-6161 You can check out the bc transit website for service announcements, route info, etc. Won't let me add the link. If I can help in any other way, please don't hesitate to ask. Sidney, BC is a nice little city close to the sea and Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal... if you have any extra time to explore you can easily bus it from Sidney "Beacon Avenue and 5th Street to Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal. Once in Tsawwassen and you disembark the buses are waiting, I'm not sure if the bus #'s are the same as going towards the ferry, you can ask. Good luck and have fun. Have a fantastic time, it is really beautiful
