WEBAug 11, 2022 · Especially since the new rumor is the price reduction of the 5800x3D next month, likely since the Ryzen 7000 series is going to have such a gaming performance jump. You could estimate a 5900X3D's performance by using the 5800X3D gaming performance with the 5900X's application performance minus about 5%.

WEBJan 5, 2022 · If you wanted a 5900X3D, the 5800X3D is plenty fast and faster than the 5900X. There's still the 5950X and 5900X if you purely need the extra threads. Otherwise, if you can wait, AM5 will most likely be the better option for an upgrade in the future. The 5800X3D is probably the best AMD will offer on AM4 as they shift their focus to AM5.

WEBJul 1, 2022 · Where at for 5900x3d each CCX gets its own V Cache of 64mb, but then the cross talk latency could potentially undo some of that L3 cache benefits. For the sake of argument, basically if a game/engine likes the added cache, then usually it benefits from memory latency as well.

Chances are for gaming you'll be GPU limited anyway (assume you're going 1440 or better with that GPU) 5900 will be good for gaming on all but the highest of refresh rates over the 5800x3d and probably a lot better for multithreaded productivity apps. Lisa Su literally held a 5900X3D prototype in her hand at Computex 2021 and showed Gears 5 running on it vs a regular 5900X locked @ 4GHz. 184 FPS to 206 FPS is a nice boost at the same frequency! So yeah I want a 5900X3D at the launch price of a 5900X.
